<\/a> I decided to write some SEO tips and tricks that I’ve learnt from all the years I’ve been blogging (over 6 years). By writing this blog entry, it doesn’t mean or make me an expert but recently after a discussion with a colleague about SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) I realised that I’ve accumulated some valuable experience which I thought it was worth sharing with my readers. Initially, the discussion started off by my colleague wanting to optimise one of his websites. The search term he wanted to optimise was “make money building apps<\/a>” because he wanted to promote a new product that would create smartphone applications.\u00a0So I thought I’d also try to create a post on my blog to just prove the point that sometimes it doesn’t take too much effort or special techniques to get to the first page or even the first listing. NOTE: It does depend on how popular the search terms you’re trying to target.<\/p>\nSEO Search Engine Optimisation Tips and Tricks<\/h2>\n
In any case, I wanted to conduct a little experiment and test whether the techniques that I’ve been using will get my website to be on the FIRST page of Google – yes even the first result after the sponsored ads for the term “make money building apps”. Surprisingly, I did and because I did, I wanted to share some of my limited knowledge with the world.<\/p>\n
Some of the tips and tricks that I’ve listed below is quite ordinary but it works and I thought I’d just mention them here so others can potentially benefit:<\/p>\n
Use WordPress for your website<\/strong> – you’ll be amazed how much of a difference WordPress makes. All hosting companies offer the ability to quickly and easily install WordPress on your hosting account<\/p>\n Use WordPress SEO plugins<\/strong> – the ones I use are “All In One SEO” and “Yoast SEO”<\/p>\n Submit your website\u00a0<\/strong>– <\/strong>to Google Webmaster tools and Bing Webmaster tools<\/p>\n Tagging<\/strong> – manually tag your post or use a plugin called called “Auto Tags”<\/p>\n Unique Content – <\/strong>Write unique content and something that people will enjoy reading or find useful. If people like it, they will share it with others. I’m sure Google’s search algorithm (Panda or whichever animal comes out) checks to see how unique the content is<\/p>\n Unique Images<\/strong> – As per point above, also make sure that any images you use are also unique. I’m not sure whether you have used Google image search feature but you can drag and drop an image and Google will return similar images or websites that are using that image. So just be careful Be smart<\/strong> on how you use the title of your post. If you’re targeting particular search terms, make sure it’s included the title<\/p>\n Awesome first paragraph<\/strong> – In the content make sure the first paragraph includes the search terms as well<\/p>\n Don’t be lazy<\/strong> – for photos add a description. I sometimes forget to do this.<\/p>\n Those are the techniques I used to get my post to be listed at the top. Now if you just can’t be bother and just want a tool to get you to the top in search engines then you’re in luck. There’s something called SEO Elite<\/a>, a software tool that helps you get to the top. Otherwise there’s some other tools such as: Keyword Spy<\/a> – this tool allows you too see what your competitors are doing to rank to the top SEO Link Monster<\/a> – 15 minutes to a massive Google Ranking increase I know this is going to be a long shot, but the next term that I’ll probably target is “make money online”. The reason why I say it’s a long shot is because as you decrease the number of search words, the harder it gets! There’s no harm in trying to lets see how I go.
