October 11, 2012 / by Marco / Categories : Business, Make Money
Do you have Twitter followers? Do you use short links for your twitter or blog posts?
I just came across a cool website that earns you money for using their shortlink. It’s called adf.ly and you basically get paid for people clicking on your shortlinks. It’s perfect for Twitter and also for your website that gets quite a bit of traffic. So what it does is it displays an advertisement before you view the actual page. Yes, it can be annoying and the amount you earn is dependent on the number of people that click on your links. That’s why if you have a lots of twitter followers then you can use adf.ly in your twitter posts.
Here’s the process to set up your twitter account to use adf.ly:
Sign up with adf.ly
Twitter account
Go to twitter.com and setup an account if you don’t already have one. If you do use your existing account as most likely you will already have people following you.
TwitterFeed account
In order to use adf.ly with Twitter you will need to use a Twitter Feed service called twitterfeed.com. This will grab all your posts from your blog using RSS and add them to your twitter posts.
Register for an account and login. If your new to twitterfeed you need to create a new feed by clicking the create new feed button as shown below:
Get the RSS feed URL – normally the website name and you will see the RSS icon e.g https://www.businesslegions.com/blog/. Add that in to the feed information like below:
Now on the same screen click the “Advanced Settings” button and go to “shorten link through”. Click on the drop down box and scroll to the bottom. Select “Custom”. You will need to enter the Adf.ly code here.
So how do you get the code?
Go back to Adf.ly, and click Tools at the top. On the tools page go to “API Documentation” and click. On the page you will see something that looks like this:
http://api.adf.ly/api.php?key=xxx&uid=yy&advert_type=int&domain=adf.ly&url=http://somewebsite.com
http://api.adf.ly/api.php?key=xxx&uid=yyy&domain=adf.ly&url=%@
Copy this into the custom endpoint, so it should look something like this:
So you may asking “How much money will I make?”
Well, the average CPM (Cost per 1000) – my one is $1.57. Yes it’s low but I guess its a numbers game. The more people you get to click on your links the more you earn money.
Can you use adf.ly on my blog?
Yes, if you have a blog using WordPress you can use the plugin called AutoMonFly. All you will need to do is install the software.
