So my brother had his Optus ZTE V9 tablet tucked away in the cupboard for over a year. When he decided to use the tablet he couldn’t remember what the unlock pattern was. Android has a cool feature to perform a reset after you incorrectly enter the pattern more than 5 times.  If you tried to unlock the patter incorrectly for more than 5 time you have the unit synched to your Gmail account then your in luck. The only problem was… he didn’t know which Gmail account was used.

So the only way to unlock the unit was to perform a recovery and set the unit to factory defaults. This meant all the data on the tablet would be lost but luckly there wasn’t any data on the unit.
So I followed the instructions in this link http://www.zte.com.au/optus/V9.htm and was able to perform the recovery. There are other websites that claim to be able to provide instructions on how to recover the unit but none worked except for this one.
All you need to do is install the relevant Upgrade package (make sure you download either Pre-paid or Post-Paid)and follow the instructions in the manual.
If you have any problems let me know.
