The future of the car driving experience

When you come across a technology that gives you the chill, it’s definitely worth sharing. So have a look at this video (the acting is pretty funny too!):
Yes, it’s the NAVDY.
As you saw in the video, the NAVDY has voice recognition, touchless gestures (swiping with fingers) and works with your Iphone and Android. It comes with the HUD (head-Up Display) so that images projected from the unit to the HUD look transparent and will still keep you focused on the road.
At the moment the price tag on this if you pre-order is US$299.00 (Normally RRP $499) and will be shipped in early 2015. There is an additional cost of $30 to ship to Australia and if you want to use the extra app features on the unit there is additional costs. The only concern that I have is whether it’s legal to use this in Australia. I’m a bit hesitant to purchase it if it’s illegal to use it especially because of this statement:
Please check your local regulations and configure Navdy appropriately, it is your responsibility to use Navdy in a way that complies with applicable laws. Local regulations vary on the legality of hands-free texting performed without touching your phone and/or texting in a way that does not divert visual attention from the road. By default Navdy is configured so that text messages appear while the vehicle is stationary and are read aloud while the car is moving. You can also disable text messages completely and there are parental controls to keep teenagers safer.
This is a great invention for the car industry and I believe it can also be used in many other applications, but what are your thoughts? Will people start abusing the system (hacking it) and watch Video’s or surfing the Internet whilst driving?
