Business Legions Digital Signage for displaying digital content

Digital signage is an innovative way to display dynamic digital content. For those of you who don’t know what it is, basically think of the screens that you have seen in retail stores and shopping centres that display advertisements. That is digital signage!

Here’s an example:

There are three main components that make up a digital signage solution and these are:

THE DIGITAL SIGNAGE HARDWARE

Screens

This is the component that displays the visual content. Think of it as a monitor or as most people call it a TV.

Digital signage has now also become more interactive by using technology such as touch screens where you can walk up to a kiosk device and use your finger to search for content. For example, digital wayfinding solutions use touchscreens for helping visitors find their way around buildings such as large hospitals.

As technology is improving every year, you will start to see different types of digital screens and they range from different sizes too. We’ve seen transparent screens that allow you to promote physical products behind it. We’ve seen curved screens that wrap around poles or walls.

Digital Signage Player

There are now many different types of digital signage players that uses different operating system and specifications. There are now screens that use internal media players or SoC (System on a Chip) so you don’t have to buy this separately but the specifications of these are not as powerful compered to an external media player.

THE SOFTWARE

There are so many different digital signage software available on the market. Most are now cloud-based solutions so that the user can manage the digital signage solution remotely. With the digital signage software, you will be able to manage the displays/screens and the content. There are also different types of digital content such as Social Wall, where you can dynamically display different social media posts on the display screens.

THE DIGITAL CONTENT

The digital content is the visual that are displayed on the digital screens. This can be static information such as posters, images, or videos. Interactive content such as interactive kiosks that displays websites are also common. Creating the content is an ongoing process and for marketers or digital signage operators, they would need tools to create this. You can read about different tools that will allow you to create awesome content here: VIDEO TOOL and for images have a look at this post: IMAGE DESIGNS

I hope this has helped to explain what is digital signage and what you need to setup a digital signage solution.
