Have you tried utorrent 3.0 beta

April 26, 2011   /   by Marco  / Categories :  Technology

I just downloaded and installed utorrent 3.0 beta and there a some great new features with this version. Most noticeably is the ability to stream videos whilst they are being downloaded. I just tested this it does work, but it’s not what I expected. Clicking on “stream” showed a message saying “Ready in [xx seconds]” or even minutes – I would have thought that the system would have played the video file straight way…. why does it have to wait?

With the older versions of utorrent I basically located the file that was being transferred and opened it up with VLC. VLC then asked if I wanted to repair the file and I would always click on NO and it would play any video content that was downloaded.

The other interesting option is the ability to send torrent links to other recipients whereby they can download the torrent from a link.  I’m not sure how many people are actually going to use this feature but I’m assuming the utorrent team decided to add this feature because of high requests from users or because they saw the need to have this feature.

So have you tried utorrent 3.0 beta?
